| I joined the San Diego Lapidary Society in 2002. I find that every rock has a new picture in it, even when it's two slabs from the same rock. I started with your every day round and oval shapes and saw that the templates also had a cross on them. I asked about trying to do crosses and was told that it was one of the most difficult ones to do. Well, I had such a hard time with keeping the "round" round and the "oval" actually oval, so I thought for sure the crosses would never come out so beautiful. Surprise, surprise. I had so much fun just figuring out how to do all the grinding and sanding on the wheels, I just couldn't stop. Here are a few of the crosses that I have done in different rocks.
